who?

Dana J. is a musician, DJ, and producer from New Jersey. His DJ sets have been described as “bridging the gap between the bounce and grit of old-school hip-hop, and the dynamic rhythms of house music and other genres, making for a catchy, edgy sound with soul and flow”. DJing in venues across the U.S. within multiple genres/formats and working with artists across the world since 2007, he has worked hard to refine his craft, establish his unique style and develop an original, creative approach.

He released his debut album Commercials in June 2021, working with artists from across the country to help create unique collaborations. He plans to release more original music, remixes, live DJ sets & more through various platforms.

Graduating from Montclair High, his life has been dedicated to two key passions: Music, creating wherever inspiration hits, working professionally in & out of Orlando, Florida with Studio 18 since 2011, and community organizing: Participating in a wide variety of non-profit and political campaigns. He has been a part of several successful platforms supporting progressive causes across the country, helping secure positive policy-based steps forward along the way.

While traveling, he has been motivated to share his various skill sets through his #CatchTheBeat music education program. Since 2013, he has organized teaching curriculums for a variety of musical instruments, as well as music programming/beatmaking and DJing. Music has been a part of every facet of his professional networking and service, providing DJ and/or MC experiences for weddings nationwide.

His passion for music and local events connected him with Gonzalo Silva in the early 2010’s. Their shared interest in music creation and education has led to many collaborations over the years, and eventually led to them creating Grounded Music Education in 2023.
